Dayton Parallel Sewer Interceptor

Location:

United State, Dayton, Ohio

Precaster:

Encore Precast

The Situation:

A new parallel sewer interceptor was constructed along the west side of the Great Miami River in Dayton, Ohio. The project included approximately 11,350 linear feet of 6-foot by 8-foot box culvert and 1,420 linear feet of 36-inch reinforced concrete cylinder pipe (RCCP). Due to the river-adjacent location and long service-life expectations, the system required watertight joints meeting ASTM C990 standards as well as long-term protection against microbially induced corrosion of concrete (MICC).

The Solution:

To address the aggressive sewer environment, ConBlock MIC was incorporated to provide integral antimicrobial protection, helping safeguard the concrete infrastructure from microbially induced corrosion of concrete. For joint integrity, CS-102 sealant, used in conjunction with CS-50 primer, delivered a watertight seal that met ASTM C990 requirements and ensured long-term performance.

Applications:

  • Box Culvert
  • Reinforced Concrete Pipe
