Agricultural Waste Holding Tank

Location:

United States, Wisconsin

Precaster:

Huffcutt Concrete, Inc.

The Situation:

Wisconsin, known for its dairy production and cheese, is the location of this agricultural project site. In the construction of a manure holding tank for a Wisconsin dairy farm, project specifications required watertight seals for the joints to prevent unwanted waste discharge into the environment.

The Solution:

CS-102 was used to provide watertight joints between the holding tank walls. Between the holding tank’s walls and the poured in place floor CS-231 Waterstop/Waterbar was used, providing a watertight seal. For both sets of joints, CS-75 primer was used to provide better bonding of the sealant to the concrete. The primer is not necessary in this case, but highly recommended. Also, for added watertight protection around the joints, a caulking combination of CS-1500 (on the interior side of the structure) and CS-1000 (was used on the exterior). The combination of these ConSeal products helped Huffcutt meet the project specifications and complete the project successfully.
