LOCAL BUSINESSMAN WINS TOP INDUSTRY HONOR

10/5/2018

Indianapolis, Inc. – Howard Wingert, President of Concrete Sealants, Inc. in Tipp City, Ohio, was presented with the Robert E. Yoakum Award on Saturday, October 6, at the National Precast Concrete Association’s 53rd Annual Convention in Providence, R.I.

Wingert was presented the award, the association’s most prestigious honor, for his steadfast devotion to the betterment of the industry and the association.

Wingert officially started working at the family business in 1984, after earning a Bachelor of Science in Education from The Ohio State University and a law degree at the University of Dayton. Early in his career, he learned the importance of contributing to the industry through involvement in ASTM International, where he is still active today. He has spent more than 30 years serving on both the ASTM C-13 Concrete Pipe Committee and the ASTM C-27 Precast Concrete Products Committee, where he served as the committee chairman for over a decade.

“I cannot think of a more deserving recipient than Howard Wingert,” said NPCA President Ty Gable. “Howard has exemplified the highest levels of dedication, leadership and support for the association and industry.”

In addition, when Wingert took over as President in 1997, he continued the active involvement of Concrete Sealants employees with NPCA that his father-in-law, Bob Haman, began. Bob’s saying, “You take care of NPCA and NPCA will take care of you,’ is what the company lives by as many employees are involved in all aspects of the association, including committees, task forces and the NPCA Foundation board of directors. He accepted the award to a standing ovation at the NPCA 53rd Annual Convention.

“It is humbling to receive such recognition from your peers. I believe I have learned more and received more from my colleagues in the precast industry than I have given over the years. It is a great industry and I am truly honored,” Wingert said.
